Come and meet our newest attraction! Meet our amazing octopus! Due to popular demand, we are continuing our octopus encounter throughout June and during the July school holidays.
A visit to our marine discovery centre will also leave you excited and more knowledgeable about the unique world that lives in New Zealand's oceans.
Our rocky shore tank shows some of the amazing animals who make their homes on new zealand coasts. You will also get the discover some of the research carried out at the University of Auckland's Leigh Marine Laboratory.
To find us park in the DOC marine reserve visitor carparks and head down to the beach. Look for the large blue Discovery Centre sign on the grass verge near the beach. Follow the path with the red poles up to the centre. Our centre is the building with a large school of blue fish (jack mackerel) on the outside.
Normal admission charges apply. We are open Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun from 10-4pm. A great experience after a visit to the Matakana markets.
