Tap your toes through a concert that celebrates the brilliance of George Gershwin, the American genius who ripped jazz off the streets and put it in the concert hall, creating music of instant and enduring popularity.
Freddy Kempf, one of today’s most successful pianists, will perform three out of four of Gershwin’s piano concertos and then the Orchestra will perform An American in Paris, Bernstein’s Prelude, Fugue and Riffs and Shostakovich’s Tahiti Trot.
Australian-born Matthew Coorey conducts the NZSO for this concert filled with familiar tunes, infectious rhythms and fun.
