Bottle Creek Gallery

Hihi Kanapa –gleaming rays of the sun
An exhibition of weaving and carving works by tutors Kohai Grace and James Molnar and their graduates from Whitireia, New Zealand

Pataka Spine
Local artists will display their works and demonstrate their various techniques between 11.30 and 4.30pm.

Basia Smolnicki – Paper and Glass Art
Basia Smolnicki is a printmaker, art tutor and sandblasted glass artist based in Wellington. Basia produces woodcuts and etchings that are sold as limited edition artist prints. She also sandblasts designs on glass and mirror used to enhance the architecture of home and office environments.

Paddy Burgin – Burgin Guitars
Paddy handcrafts guitars and other instruments in his Wellington workshop for musicians all around the world. He is also a musician playing in folk, country and gospel bands.

Liana Leiataua
Liana will show some of her artwork and present a siapo workshop using handprinting technique to produce an image. Siapo is the name for the design which is seen on the tapa cloths.

New Zealand Pastel Artists
Artist quality pastels are made from natural earth pigments and are colour fast. Come and see what amazing work is produced by this group of artists

Zumba demonstration
Get things moving and grooving with Jem and Da, resident Porirua Zumba instructors. It will be high energy, great music and some smooth moves happening in the Spine here 1.30pm

Education Space
Pataka Adult Craft Workshop: 11 – 3pm

Tribal bunting
Nau mai, haere mai. Celebrate Waitangi Day with local artist and maker Rachel Toimata. You will be using hand-stitching techniques like appliqué, basic embroidery stitch, buttonhole stitching, string making and much more all out of re-purposed and up-cycled materials. Registration essential as places are limited. Workshop is free. Bring along materials that we can stitch with – fabric, blankets etc. Shared lunch and tea and coffee will be provided.
