Wa Kainga Trek 2012

2012's Wa Kainga Trek will be run as a fundraiser for the Kakatahi School Centennial.

A ride of approx 35-40 km starting from the Raukawa Adventure Centre YMCA (Parapara Road SH4) that passes through multiple hill country properties before arriving back at our starting point.

The Horse Trek has been running since Feb 2010, with rider numbers slowly increasing each year. The previous 2 years we have had awesome weather, so here's hoping for a 3rd!

After a number of enquiries, we are looking to accommodate mountain bikers and walkers on the 2012 Trek. At this stage it is a fun ride but dependant on interest and sponsorship a race could well be included.

The Raukawa Adventure Centre and the facilities located here are first rate for staging such an event.

The trek routes for the 3 disciplines will vary slightly and start times will be staggered.

Due to the terrain a decent level of fitness is required for horses, cyclists and walkers. There will be quad bikes and medical personnel on hand, should the going get too tough for you.

The route is along hill country farm tracks and trails with various creek and water crossings negotiated.

We are sure you will enjoy the tracks, company and the scenery.

For those of you wishing to partake in the whole weekend the cost includes all meals, grazing and entertainment included. 1 day options are also available, with no meals included. For those requiring accommodation, comfortable huts are available on site @ a minimal cost of approx $10 per night.
