August is Family History Month. Each week in Wellington there will be a number of events of interest to genealogists and others keen on New Zealand history and biography.

Here is the opportunity to hear three expert speakers explore different aspects of family history research
• Gavin McLean, Senior Historian with the Ministry for Culture Heritage and author of many books, will speak on "The Local Context your ancestors helped make"
• Don Hansen (winner the NZ Society of Genealogist’s Lucy Marshall Award) will talk about New Zealand’s census records in "Forgotten but not gone"
• Brad Patterson of Victoria University will talk on "Knowing your English ancestors in New Zealand"

Venue: Connolly Hall – cnr Hill Street & Guildford Terrace (beside the Catholic Basilica)

Entry fee includes afternoon tea.
