In 'Evocative Object: Why Objects Matter', eight artists are showing work that connects with the idea that objects matter to us. Objects are part of how we inhabit our spaces; they quietly provide a frame for our lives, often familiar and sometimes invisible. But what makes an object evocative may not necessarily be about value, use, aesthetics or ownership.

Each exhibitor has taken their own path within this terrain - whether it is how an object can bring together both thought and feeling, or connect them with a person, or moment in time or circumstance, or even to their intellectual life. Objects matter to us; they are part of our emotional lives.

'The Evocative Object: Why Objects Matter' is part of the Auckland Festival of Photography which is a signature visual arts event.
