Ethkick

The Ethkick tournament is run promote a positive image of friendship through football and encouraging social cohesion.

The 7-aside football tournament was held at Celaeno Park, Palmerston North and has been running for three years now, with teams based on country of origin or ethnic group.

The tournament is run along World Cup lines with pool play, quarters, semi and finals. Roughly 40 teams took have taken part each year!

The event has a great community feel, with an opening and a closing ceremony, entertainment, and food stalls.

Organisations helping to organise Ethkick11 were the NZ Police, Department of Internal Affairs, Sport Manawatu, Refugee Services, Manawatu Multi-Cultural Centre, Ministry of Social Development and Central Football Referees.

Funding for the event was provided by: NZ Police, Lotteries Board, Palmerston North City Council.
