Emily Smith and Jamie McClennan

Award-winning Scottish folk singer Emily Smith and New Zealand born multi-instrumentalist Jamie McClennan will be touring New Zealand in February and March 2012. Following a sell-out tour back in 2010 they are back to delight audiences with an inspiring mix of original songs and tunes alongside updated settings of traditional material in English and Scots language.

Smith and McClennan have been creating music together for almost a decade. They met in 2002, shortly after Emily won the prestigious title of ‘BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year’. Jamie joined Emily’s band initially on fiddle, but over the years has become an integral part of Smith’s sound, playing fiddle and lead guitar on recordings and live performances as well as producing Emily’s latest solo album ‘Traiveller’s Joy’, the success of which has helped garner her the nominations of ‘Folk Singer of the Year’ & Best Traditional Track’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards to be held in Feb 2012.

Performing a beautiful blend of traditional and original folk songs and tunes on vocals, accordion, piano, fiddle and guitar, this is an act not to miss!
