Artist Eleanor Wright will run a 2-day workshop, where students are introduced to the academic method of figure drawing, employed by the major Realist ateliers of 19th century Paris, and the French Academic tradition.
On the first day, students will be learning the basic methods of sight size and comparative measurement drawing techniques. These will be taught firstly off static images so the students might familiarise themselves with the methods. All instruction will be leading the students towards working from life accurately. Students will be provided with photographic portraits to draw from, to firstly investigate these techniques.
For day two, students will again be creating charcoal studies, putting in to practice the methods taught on day one, this time studying from the life model. The students will have a chance to either create two small studies or one more developed portrait.
