Now in its 9th year the ECHO Walking Festival is once again gearing up for a busy two weeks of walking, 10th April to 22 April.

You will need to park your car before the gate to the lodge and then it’s a half kilometre walk to the lodge.

To get to the Aongatete swimming pools, follow a bulldozed track for about 15 minutes you head off onto the right along a cut track of mostly second growth bush to the river. This is a trip for the sure footed and those prepared to get a bit wet as you traverse up the riverbed (about 300 meters) to some attractive cascades and pools, a favourite swimming place for youngsters in summer.
