Dynatron Taupo Tarmac 2wd Rally

Rallying for young and old 2wd cars.

The Taupo Classic Rally Club Inc is holding the annual Dynatron Taupo Tarmac Rally for 2wd rally cars. Classic Rally cars (manufactured before 1983) will go head to head with more modern two wheel drive rally cars to see how they perform.

Starting at 11.00 am on Saturday morning, the rally cars do battle over 5 different “rally type” stages at the Motorsport and continuing with non stop action in both directions at the track until 4.00pm.

Spectator viewing will be available for free at the northern end of the park, where food and coffee is available

Over 35 rally cars from all over the North Island including several classic Ford Escorts, Trimuph TR7, Rover 3500, Mazda Rx7s, Toyota Starlets, Toyota Corollas, Toyota Celica, Chev Corvette, Holden V8 Torana SS and Datsun 1600s, even a Porsche 924 with a rotary engine, will compete against more modern Toyota Corollas, MR2, V8 Hilux, Nissan Skylines, Silvias, BMW M3, 550IS, 535, HSV Commodore and Turbo Toyotas.
