40 Days Touring are proud to announce that Californian quartet Dum Dum Girls will play their first-ever New Zealand show.

Residing on the pop culture continuum somewhere close to where the Ronettes meet the Ramones, the Dum Dum Girls are two albums, an EP, a cassette and a handful of seven-inches into a career that has brought both critical acclaim and the adulation of an army of admirers.

Initially the solo project of songwriter/singer/guitarist Dee Dee (and named after an Iggy tune with the gender switched), the Dum Dum Girls went from scratchy Super-8 to widescreen Technicolor, and became a full band to celebrate the first sub pop-released album, I Will Be.

Dum Dum Girls will play the iconic Kings Arms in support of their breathtaking new album Only In Dreams, produced by the legendary Richard Gottehrer (Sire Records co-founder/Blondie first LP producer/writer of ‘I Want Candy’); and co-produced by his spiritual heir Sune Rose Wagner (of Danish duo The Raveonettes).

While positioned firmly in the now, Dum Dum Girls continue eyeing both past and future, playing what the NZ Herald called “…strident melodies, coupled with still-cool slightly ironic girl-group harmonies and catchy hand clap rhythms…”.

Having played to sell-out crowds across the USA, this show is a must-see for fans of timeless pop, punk attitude and the girl-group vibe.

40 Days Touring, Volume Magazine, 95BFM and Sub Pop Records present Dum Dum Girls. Plus guests The Transistors & Roy Irwin

Tickets on sale 9am Weds 19th of October from www.undertheradar.co.nz and Real Groovy.
