The Polish Association in Christchurch proudly presents Adrianna Lis (flute) and Sarah Watkins (piano) in Dialogues & Fantasies for flute and piano - a programme of classical, contemporary and film music.

Adrianna Lis is the principal flutist of the Auckland Chamber Orchestra. She began her musical training in Poland. While still a student, she was awarded a scholarship to work with former principal flutist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, James Walker, at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. She also completed intensive solo and orchestral studies with Jean Claude Gerard at the Die Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart in 1995. Adrianna won prizes at a number of flute and young artist competitions. She has appeared in solo recitals and performed in chamber groups for various musical and cultural organizations worldwide.
During her extensive career as an orchestral player she had performed under the baton of Kent Nagano, Bobby McFerrin, and Marco Zuccarini among others. At present she plays with the Auckland Chamber Orchestra, Bach Musica NZ, and Waitakere City Orchestra. She is also involved in teaching and a number of children’s outreach programmes.
Adrianna has recently released her debut solo album of works by New Zealand and Polish composers with Atoll Records label. Music from the album features in the programme and the CD will be on sale at the venue.
Pianist Sarah Watkins has enjoyed an impressive career as chamber musician, collaborative partner and recording artist. A founding member of NZTrio, Sarah also performs in the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Auckland Chamber Orchestra, and is an official pianist for the Michael Hill International Violin Competition and the Gisborne International Music Competition. As concerto soloist, Sarah has performed with the APO and St Matthew's Chamber Orchestra. A graduate of the University of Canterbury, she holds both MM and DMA degrees in collaborative piano from the Juilliard School in New York City. Resident in the US for fourteen years, Sarah was a staff pianist at Juilliard, Yale University and the Aspen Music Festival; academic highlights include her work as coordinator of the collaborative piano program at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, and several years on the music faculty of Purchase College, New York.
