Vibrant paintings reminiscent of children’s annuals from the 1930s-60s containing a different world; one of daring, adventure and dash... It can only be Dale Gilmore. In addition to the qualities above, inherent in these works is a more prescribed, ordered society, slower and more compartmentalised.
However these are not meant to be pictures about nostalgic dreams but signposts pointing to the present - indicators of, and a metaphor for, change.
Gilmore returns from a highly successful debut with Letham Gallery in 2011, with a playful yet serious body of works that no villa will be complete without.
