Cornwall Park Cherry Blossom Sundays

The Cornwall Park cherry blossom in flower this Spring.

The cherry trees in Cornwall Park produce a spectacular display of flowers for a month each spring. Located just near the main car park, off Pohutukawa Drive, they are a very popular attraction in the Park. There are two main varieties: 'Awanui' (Prunus xtedoensis) make up the two group plantings and flower first, while the 'Accolade' (Prunus sargentii x Prunus subhirtella) line the pathway leading from the pedestrian crossing on Pohutukawa Drive up to the Poplar Steps.

Cornwall Park Cherry Blossom Sundays:
Pack a picnic and join the fun of our spring celebrations at Cornwall Park, with our Cherry Blossom Sunday’s. There will be family fun entertainment, including music, face painting, fairies and elves between 1-3pm on Sundays 23rd and 30th of September and Sunday 7th of October. The celebration of the flowering cherries will culminate with a Japanese cultural day 'Sakura Matsuri' taking place at the Park on Sunday 14th October from 10am-3pm.

Sunday 23rd September, music from the 'Starlight Strings Quartet', free face painting and Belinda Blossom, Fairly Clare.

Sunday 30th September, music from the 'Northshore Concert Band'. Free face painting and blossom fairies.

Sunday 7th October, music and a perform fromthe wonderful 'Auckland & Districts Highland Pipe Band', also Belinda Blossom and Fairy Clare.
