The humble woollen blanket has been part of our history since its early arrival in the 1800s, through to their production in mills around the country during the industrialisation of New Zealand. Woollen blankets are common place objects that were and still are a part of every home. This exhibition looks at the original context of the blanket and then turns the focus to the expansion of its purpose as a material used in contemporary art practice.
Free floor talk - 2pm Sunday 29 April discussing the contemporary work by Common Thread artists and exhibition curator Natalie Friend.
NB: The exhibition is open every day 10am till 4pm. except Mondays.
