Soul / jazz to the wild edges of electric Miles
Hard Candy features the conceptual ray of Adam Larsen - alto saxophone, Ross Larsen - electric bass, Frank Conway - drums / percussion.
Sitting in the blurred line between hard bop and the Miles Davis electric years, the set will begin with originals before exploring tracks from the On the Corner recordings, which began on June 1st. 1972 - expect Latinesque, quasi rock, madness and knife edge hard jazz.'
"...incredible shapes and colours from Larsen's horn" C. Moon, CJC - Hard Candy live 2010
The Rebecca Melrose band debuts for CJC playing five songs from her self-titled upcoming EP as well as two arrangements. This is soul-infused jazz with influences broad and many, from Gretchen Parlato and Lauryn Hill to Zach Condon, Mal Waldron and, of course, Ella. Vocalist / composer Rebecca studied at Auckland University and is a talent you should not miss.
