City of Children explores the representation of journey and change in the context of the Wellington landscape. The exhibition reflects the city’s constant movement and in doing so responds to the artist’s reflection on her personal passage from Colombia.
Change is present in not only what we experience but the way we experience. This movement is expressed through a collection of images that refer to past through childhood fantasies. Vivid imaginations reflecting the city’s landscape infused with personal reference to South American origins.
Movement creates space. Within the gaps appear new beginnings and the opportunity for spontaneity to emerge. City of Children invites participants to engage with the journey that brought them to where they are today.
Rosa Maria Baquero is a graduate of the Cali Institute of Fine Art in Colombia. She has previously exhibited at the Cultural Centre (Cali, Colombia), the Regional Art Exhibition (Pasto, Colombia) and the National Art Exhibition (Napier, NZ).
She has an interest in children, recycling and cows.
