Chinese Spring Festival – Xiamen Song and Dance Troupe

A free concert by the Xiamen Song and Dance Troupe to commemorate the 25th anniversary of sister city relations between Xiamen and Wellington.

About Xiamen Sing and Dance Troupe:

Founded in August 1961, Xiamen Sing and Dance Troupe consists of Xiamen Orchestra, Dance Company, Opera Company, Jinqiao Choir, Stage Art Center, Art Studio, Xiamen Art Theater and Performance Managing Department, having a group of excellent conductors, performers, singers, dancers, composers, stage artists and young talents with great potential.

As a thriving modern art group of entrepreneurship and creativity, Xiamen Sing and Dance Troupe plays an important role in major galas and concerts in recent years, such as the CIFIT Fireworks Galas, the 2007 Cross-strait Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, the Cross-strait Folk Art Festival, the 2008 Xiamen World Ocean Week Concert, and Xiamen Gala of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of PRC.

Since 2009, Xiamen Sing and Dance Troupe has staged several philharmonic galas that have extensive influence both at home and abroad. Original dramas of A Bundle of Bougainvillea for You, Youth Rock, Art, Flick Maniac Murderer, philharmonic a cappella drama Sister Jiang, musicals Durian Fragrance are well-received. Original Opera Girl Amei, and southern music dance Song of Eternal Sorrow win the National Wenhua Original Drama Award and Caoyu Drama Award separately. Musical Honking Sky wins the Excellent Drama Award of the 23rd Drama Joint Performance of Fujian Province, the first prize of the 5th Fujian Baihua Art Award, the Excellent Drama Award of the 2nd China Drama Award of the 10th China Drama Festival, the Best Performance Award of Fujian Drama Joint Performance of the 30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, and the Special Honor Award of the 4th Xiamen Literature and Art Award. Musical Stay a Little, Waiting for Our Soul wins the Excellent Drama Award of the 24th Fujian Drama Joint Performance, and the Excellent Drama Award of the 3rd China Drama Award of the 11th China Drama Festival. Dance Impression of the City wins the second prize of the 6th National Choreography and Performance Contest, and the second prize of the 5th Fujian Baihua Art Award.

Xiamen Sing and Dance Troupe traveled and performed in countries including Russia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sweden, Netherlands, and South Korea.
