The Handel Quire returns to Mount Maunganui for the third time to present a concert of some of the most beautiful a cappella choral music ever written. Much of the music centres around the passion of Christ and his resurrection, but not all. We will sing a variety of music from across the ages from the surreal strains of Tallis (Salvator mundi) and Purcell (Hear my prayer), to the more recent Rheinberger (Abendlied) and Stanford (Ye choirs of new Jerusalem). Other pieces include Salvator mundi - Blow, Surrexit pastor bonus - Lassus, Justorum animae and Jubliate Deo - both by Lassus. St Peter's Church organist Chalium Poppy will play a few organ pieces to round out the programme.
