The Christchurch Festival of Flowers Trust and the Monarch Butterfly New Zealand Trust are bringing a live butterfly experience to Canterbury Museum. Chrysalises will be brought into a controlled aviary enclosure and these will hatch over the two week period of the exhibition. Visitors will be able to enter the aviary and get up-close with the butterflies. Monarch Butterfly New Zealand Trust is going to release 182 butterflies into the wild on 22 February in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the earthquake.
