Dvořák - Symphony No.9, ‘From the New World’.
Dvořák’s Symphony No.9, from which the title of our Splendour Series is derived this year, was composed during a visit to the United States and inspired by Native American music and African-American spirituals.
Graham Abbott demonstrates with the orchestra just how Dvořák’s “rhythms, counterpoint and colour” work, before a performance of three movements from this glorious symphony.
