Brilliant young Franco-German cellist Nicolas Altstaedt (2010 BBC New Generation Artist and Credit Suisse Young Artist Award winner) performs Shostakovich’s moving yet thrillingly dramatic cello concerto, written for Rostropovich, in which the expressive and technical abilities of the cello are used to the full.
