Lunar New Year is a festival of celebration. The coming Lunar New Year falls on the 23rd January 2012. To extend the success of the past years’ carnival, World TV is going to organise a carnival again on Saturday 21st January (the last weekend prior to New Year) at Manukau City's TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre.
World TV has been preparing for this event for several months since mid-2011. The event will provide a summer festival extravaganza with cultural performances, pop music, children's entertainment, Oriental food stalls, tradition arts and crafts and what more to surprise the attendees are Chinese idols and New Zealand Chinese beauty queens will also be present to grace the event.
One of the exciting performances is the Huanxian’s shadow puppetry and traditional art forms which hosted by the troupe from Gansu in China. Performances of Shadow Plays include "Write Chao", "Wang Qi henpecked," "Hell Tour", "Monkey King", "Pirates of immortality," "Lo sweep through the North."
The highlight of the event is the ceremony officiated by the government officials at 8:00 pm and the fireworks display at 10:00 pm which symbolises the expulsion of all mishaps in 2011 and brings in fortune for the year of the Dragon to the world.
