The Art4Recovery is from the Whare Whakaue collection, painted by the patients of Ward4 at Rotorua Hospital. The project is led by Paul McCann and Gavin Wallace, the ward’s Diversional Therapists, assisted in no small part by the ideas and handy work of local artist Martyn Evans.
Art as a therapy for the body, spirit and mind is as old as the hills.
The Art4Recovery programme at the hospital has inspired these paintings.
Each is for sale, with the proceeds going back to the project to produce more artwork for sale, a self-generating creative process.
The proceeds will go to buy more materials for the next Art Sale which will raise money for Women’s Refuge.
