Rip Tide (2012) is the sixth of the Liz Carlyle thriller novels, which began in 2004 with the publication of At Risk, earning Dame Stella Rimington a reputation as a crafter of rollicking “insider” spy fiction.
Rimington has had an expansive career, most notably as the first female – and first publicly identified – head of Britain’s secret service, providing her with a wealth of material from which to shape her knowledgeable and highly entertaining fiction.
Rimington speaks with broadcaster Sean Plunket about her new career as an international writer, the fun of writing spy thrillers and what next for Agent Carlyle and the Dame.
