Expat New Zealand writer, scriptwriter and film director Anthony McCarten returns home with two new novels.
In the Absence of Heroes (2012) is a sequel to his award-winning Death of a Superhero (2006), now also an award-winning movie. It explores the ways a family fracturing under the grief of losing a child to cancer seeks solace in digital and substitute worlds.
Brilliance (2012), a fictional treatment of the relationship between genius Thomas Edison and J.P. Morgan at the birth of the modern era.
McCarten speaks with Lily Richards.
