What is the nature of our identity? Drown is an installation that asks the viewer to enter the art and travel through different spaces and media in order to experience it from different perspectives and to explore the nature of identity. Collective artist Amy Audubon combines video, music, stage design and the internet to construct the piece and allow the viewers to be part of it.
Drown allows the viewer to follow a series of steps in order to interact with the installation and enter the art. The first step is to enter www.drowninstallation.com. Here the viewers can watch a music video and then react to it by entering a piece of text which is then appropriated by the installation itself. This text becomes an integral part of the installation piece. The viewers are then invited to leave the virtual world and visit the physical location of Drown at Downstage.
Drown is open 5pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday from the 24th of January till the 10th of February at Downstage, 12 Cambridge Terrace, Wellington. For the full experience visit, www.drowninstallation.com (advisable but not necessary).
