The Cartoon Workshop teaches students the ability to draw well, using tried and tested methods from the animation industry, the classes are fun, engaging, educational and fresh. By channeling in on the students personal style and interest the workshops can achieve a high level of drawing skill in a short amount of time.
Students will learn the following:
Classical drawing techniques - Students will learn the basic elements of classical drawing in the “sight-size” method used by masters in European ateliers for centuries;
Character development - Every great cartoonist can bring life to their own creations, learn Rob's own personal techniques in character design and create unbelievable looking model sheets that could be worthy on the Cartoon Network!
Comic creation - Working off Rob's own comic Nick and Johnny's Intergalactic Adventures - The Case of The Missing Pirate Juice, you will learn how to create a comic form scratch, right through to self-publishing on the internet to be sold on Amazon.com;
Idea development - See how Rob turns an idea from nothing into something that everyone wants to look at;
Human anatomy - Master the art of drawing the human form with some great tricks that Rob has learnt over the last 15 years;
Style development - We'll start by copying your idols and the way they draw, then learn how to use those skills to come up with your own unique style;
Shading - Flat to three dimensional, all in a few easy pencil strokes. Learn the secrets;
Perspective - One point, two point, three point. Create masterful landscapes, backgrounds and buildings;
Automobiles - Two wheels, four wheels, 12 wheels? Create amazing looking vehicles by using just basic shapes;
Animals - Using observerational techniques, we learn how to come up with original looking animal cartoon characters.
