OREXART, Glaister Ennor and Barfoot & Thompson present the work of eleven Masters graduates as part of the 2012 Glaister Ennor Graduate Art Awards exhibition. Winners are to be announced by judges John Daly-Peoples and Rex Armstrong on the evening of Thursday 21 June.
Glaister Ennor initiated the Glaister Ennor Graduate Art Awards in 2006 to help emerging artists in Auckland. Every year they ask each Auckland art school to nominate candidates for the award from its post graduate artists who are graduating that year.
Artists are asked to submit any two-dimensional piece of art to be included in an exhibition of nominees' artwork, and judged by a panel of judges. Three cash prizes are awarded and OREXART offers an opportunity to the winning artist to exhibit at the gallery.
In 2012 the eleven Masters graduates from the programmes of painting and photography are represented by AUT University, Elam School of Fine Arts and Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design. The finalists are Olivia Barnes, Cathy Carter, Jennifer Clements, Mark Foster Robbie Fraser, Joseph Griffen, Tracy Porteous, Toby Raine, Ashlin Raymond, Diane Scott, and Aurelia Zatta.
First prize - Glaister Ennor award - $5000 (non aquisitional) plus the opportunity to exhibit at the OREXART Gallery, 32 Lorne Street, Auckland
2nd prize - Barfoot & Thompson award -$3000
Glaister Ennor Staff Choice Award - $500
Previous winners include Myah Flynn, Matthew Carter & Lucy Hughes.
