Come to the beautiful Wairarapa and compete for the King of the Cliffhanger title.
This 6,100m hill climb races up through the Wairarapa hills, climbs approx. 300m and negotiates 27 corners.
This event is geared for racers, weekend cafe heroes, or anyone that wants to scream up this primo twisty hill in safety.
The hillclimb is held on the Te Wharau Rd (the Kourarau hydro dam is part-way up this road). The road surface is good with only a few bumps and ruts to challenge rider and machine. For half the distance the road clings to the side of the hill (offering good views over the Wairarapa valley). The remainder of the course cuts through the surrounding farmland in a series of fast sweeping curves.
