*As part of New Performance Festival
By Fleur Elise Noble (Melbourne)
An illusionary, captivating and cheeky work, visual tensions build and realities pile up until the artist loses control of her creations and absolutely anything becomes possible.
A festival favourite across New Zealand and Australia, Noble’s award winning mix of drawing, animation, puppetry, projection and paper is a richly imagined performance installation set in an artist’s studio.
2 Dimensional Life of Her exists in a parallel world in which everything thought to be flat becomes something else. Her drawings begin to reproduce themselves, drifting between surfaces, moving in and out of three dimensions, as the act of creation separates itself from the artist responsible for its beginnings.
Fleur Elise Noble is an Australian director/creator of visual-based theatre. An artist who works through the mediums of drawing, animation, puppetry, projection and performance, Noble’s work is specifically focused on the performative possibilities of drawing and process.
Since her studies at art schools in Adelaide and New York she has worked with a number of arts, theatre and multimedia professionals in Australia and NZ. She is a recipient of numerous grants and awards; including Winner: 2010 Greenroom Award for Video Design for 2 Dimensional Life of Her and the 2010 South Australian Young Achiever of the Year Award (Arts category).
Produced by Insite Arts.
“Noble not only deconstructs her art, she shreds, incinerates and rebuilds it, milking the full potential of today’s multimedia technology like an Andy Warhol for a new era” - The Adelaide Advertiser
