Do the holidays stress you out? Stay calm with yoga and meditation for stress. This four week course will give you the basics on ways to stop reacting to negative stress and how to manage stress using gentle yoga and meditation.
Week One: What is Stress?
Group discussion - learning about stress, the effects it has on your body and stress triggers;
Worksheet: find out about your stress triggers;
Yoga practice: gentle yoga warm up;
Meditation practice: sound meditation, learning to use sound to be in the present moment.
Week Two: Stress and Your Physical Environments
Group discussion - your physical world and stress: how your environment and routine triggers stress in your body;
Worksheet: learn about your Dosha and caring for your body;
Yoga practice: yoga poses to reduce stress;
Meditation: guided chakra meditation to increase energy and reduce fatigue.
Week Three: Learning to Control your Stress Response
Group discussion: why breathing techniques can instantly reduce your stress;
Worksheet: the gratitude game;
Yoga practice: breathing techniques their uses and how to apply them;
Meditation: breath meditation.
Week Four: How to Deal with your Thoughts and Emotions
Group discussion - how your thoughts create stress and what to do about them;
Worksheet: rewrite your story, how the myths and legends in your life create stress;
Yoga practice: spinal warm up series;
Meditation practice: Zen meditation - learning to “watch” your thoughts.
What to bring: blanket, cushion, water bottle, pen & paper.
What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing.

Lakshmi is a certified meditation teacher and author of the book “Your Peace Diet: Using Yoga Principles to Reduce Stress and Anxiety". She has her BSc in Psychology and MSc in Education.
