Be mesmerised by the sheer beauty, extraordinary drama and astonishing variety of our natural world. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year is a prestigious annual photography competition and exhibition created by the Natural History Museum, London, and BBC Wildlife Magazine. The competition attracts tens of thousands of entries; this blockbuster show presents the winning images from the 2011 competition, taken by both professional and amateur photographers. These stunning images celebrate the richness of our planet and encourage us to appreciate and preserve it. Each picture is accompanied by the story of its creation, sometimes under quite incredible conditions.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is co-owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine.
