After five albums and nearly three decades playing their uniquely New Zealand blend of country rock & roll, The Warratahs announce two intimate shows to celebrate the release of their new single “Kupe’s Tears”.

”Kupe’s Tears” is part of a new group of songs we are planning to record in the near future”, states frontman Barry Saunders. “It was inspired by a day trip I took to the Southern Wairarapa where I discovered the story of Kupe, a great Polynesian navigator who made a series of landings along the South Wairarapa coast.”
Grieving the loss of his daughter, Kupe stood on the ridge of a clifftop and gazed at the horizon in the direction she had travelled, the rocks below imprinted with his tears.
The Warratahs’ live shows have the fire and heart of earlier days, always bringing something new to the table even when playing old favourites. This is a big part of what has made the band such an engaging live act.
