Dame Alison Holst is touring the country this November in celebration of the publication of her 100th book – a memoir, not a cookbook! (Although it does contain some favourite recipes…)
Visiting bookshops and libraries and raising funds for assorted charities as she goes, “A Home-grown Cook: The Dame Alison Holst Story”, is a slice of our social history that will be available from bookstores and libraries nationwide from early November.
“Initially I set out to teach young mothers how to cook tasty, healthy meals for their families,” says Alison. “That’s what I most wanted to do. I hadn’t planned to write a book, or appear on television or travel overseas promoting New Zealand beef and lamb. Somehow, my working life just happened, and I’ve loved it. I’ve loved every minute of it.”
Join Alison for conversation and a light lunch at the Thames Club. Profits from this event will be put towards Club renovations. Doors open at 11am.
