Our love of rugby has often inspired New Zealand artists. The 1905 All Blacks pioneer tour of Britain, France and the United States is the inspiration for the semi-fictional novel 'The Book of Fame' by Lloyd Jones. Roger Hall's play 'C'mon Black', tracks salt-of-the-earth Taranaki dairy farmer Dickie Hart as he travels to South Africa to witness the 1995 World Cup. Shona McCullagh is Head Choreographer for the opening ceremony of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Join these three highly respected New Zealand artists for a discussion about arts and rugby. Enjoy fine New Zealand wines and cuisine in the wonderful environment of Black Barn Estate.
Roger Hall is a founding Governor of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand. Lloyd Jones and Shona McCullagh are Arts Foundation Laureate Award recipients.
Off-field/On-field is a REAL NZ Festival Event. Guests will enjoy a glass of wine on arrival followed by a presentation by the artists. Dinner and a glass of wine are served in standing environment following the artist presentations so that people can mingle and have the opportunity to meet the artists.
