Join like-minded swimmers along with family and friends at the 2011 Round North Head Classic, organised by the Devonport Swim Club, Inc.
This classic ocean swim revives the popular community ocean swim instigated, and run for a number of years by the Williamson brothers of Devonport.
This year’s course again runs from Windsor Reserve in the Devonport village, around North Head to Cheltenham Beach (Balmain Reserve), a distance of approximately 2.5km. And again, the swim is heavily tide-assisted.
Full on-water safety, observers on North Head, and first aid will be provided.
Pastries, bacon butties, soup and refreshments will be supplied (to competitors and volunteers) on the finish line
We encourage friends and family to walk the route along King Edward Parade.
Torpedo Bay Wharf also offers a great vantage point to observe swimmers' progress, (and we hear the coffee at the Torpedo Bay Cafe isn’t bad either).
The swim is approximately 2.5km in length, and is timed to ensure tides are highly favourable for the majority of the course.
