Set in Swansea in the mid '80s, Submarine brings a fresh set of eyes to the coming-of-age film. Oliver is an introspective teen whose pastimes include reading the dictionary and monitoring his parents' sex life. The performances are universally excellent and the young cast are heartbreaking in their struggle for independence, and something better than what life had dealt to their parents.
