Steve Lovett and Dane Taylor both collect and reprocess images. Lovett’s works start with a found or made photograph, which he has said stand for “a prosthetic memory recalling an event or sampling an as-yet-un-encountered experience”. The artist manipulates these images into almost three-dimensional objects by printing on different textures that are then layered.

Meanwhile, in Taylor’s recent work, multi-coloured geometric blooms have been painted in gouache onto second hand prints of familiar early 20th century paintings and still lives - with an affect reminiscent of tapestry or quilting. Over-painted fractal clusters catalyse spatial and colouristic relationships in the images that the artist has appropriated and, as with Lovett’s work, bring another dimension to the flattened familiar forms.
