Our Stepping Stones to Art courses for people with disabilities have been running for almost 2 years now and have been successful in more ways than we could have possibly imagined or hoped for. One of the most important and yet hardest to record factually is the friendship and camaraderie that is felt amongst the students who attend the Stepping Stones classes. In students' feedback, a constant point raised is that the Stepping Stones to Art course has made them feel a part of a community of like-minded people in similar situations.
However, although course costs are kept to an absolute minimum thanks to the help of our dedicated caring volunteers and the Quarry Arts Centre making no profit on the programme, it is still a struggle for several of the students to cover the costs of attending each week.
If you can help to support this programme in any way, it would be hugely appreciated by all involved. Some ways you or someone you know can help out are: donating money or art supplies for course materials; adopting a student and agreeing to pay their course fees for the year or part thereof; becoming a major sponsor of the programme; talented tutors might want to donate some of their time to mentor and grow inspiring artists.
The Quarry Arts Centre and Kre8hope are passionate about our community and embracing an inclusive society as well as helping people achieve their dreams. Feel free to come along on a Thursday morning from 10am-12.30pm to watch the students at work and see for yourself what an inspiring group of talented budding artists we have on board.
