Wellington-based Footnote Dance present Made in New Zealand 2011, a special celebration of contemporary Kiwi dance.
Footnote Dance has a passion for dance created by Kiwi choreographers using Kiwi music. Each year they provide a showcase for fresh new works, and during Rugby World Cup 2011 they're presenting Footnote Dance — Made in New Zealand 2011, a special celebration of contemporary Kiwi dance.
Works made by top New Zealand choreographers will offer visitors to New Zealand the chance to see something of another kind of Kiwi physicality. The synergies between dance and sport are many, and when the world’s best rugby players are onstage in New Zealand, New Zealand’s best contemporary dancers will be onstage as well.
This season is a real crowd favourite. Footnote Dance brings a range of the most inquisitive choreographers together to make work on the company.
Short works by Malia Johnston, Victoria Colombus, and a collaboration by Julia Milsom and Rick Harvie open the programme, followed by body/fight/time – brace yourself for impact in a new work by Malia Johnston and Emma Willis with music by Eden Mulholland.
All that is best in New Zealand dance – a must see for those who love to be excited and challenged.
