Proud to be part of the REAL New Zealand Festival.

As its title suggests, this exhibition focuses firstly on artworks and craft objects that are smaller in scale, and secondly share an element of beauty, although of course, notions of beauty are a subjective and individual thing. Thirdly, they are all available to be taken away during the exhibition, which will be refreshed with new work by the same and other artists and craftspeople over the three months of its duration.

Small & Beautiful takeaways is Mahara Gallery’s contribution to the REAL NZ Festival, which celebrates the cultural richness of life in communities around New Zealand during the Rugby World Cup. We are very grateful to have received a grant from NZ 2011 Festival Lottery Fund to enable us to promote this exhibition more widely than we would normally be able to do. The exhibition aims to showcase the quality and rich content of work produced by artists from the Kapiti Coast district and also nationally, with artists from Christchurch to Whangarei included.

We are grateful to all the contributing artists, and the following groups and dealers for their support: Port Nicholson Handweavers; Te Wananga O Raukawa; Bartley & Company Art; McNamara Gallery; Bowen Galleries; Mark Hutchins Gallery; Thermostat Gallery; Gilberd Marriott Gallery; {Suite} Gallery.
