Only a 35 mins ferry ride from Auckland City.

These free walks (kindly provided by Auckland Council) are designed with Rugby World Cup supporters in mind. A late start so you can have a sleep in and time for a late breakfast before you catch the ferry for a fun and entertaining average fitness walk around one of the most beautiful Islands in the Hauraki Gulf. Your dynamic walk guide Janine is an ex park ranger so she knows her stuff about the NZ environment and all the quirky local stories that will keep you entertained.

Walks leave 12pm (noon) at Matiatia Ferry Terminal, Waiheke Island - every Wednesday and Saturday over World Cup and also Mondays and Fridays when the rugby games are in Auckland (Check the calendar for specific dates).

How to get to Waiheke Island:
Catch the 11am Fullers ferry to Waiheke Island from Auckland downtown Ferry Terminal, or 11.10am from the Devonport Ferry Terminal. The walking guide (with orange vest and sign) will meet you at Matiatia Wharf , Waiheke Island, walks will leave at 12pm on the dot.

What to bring:
Auckland weather can have four seasons in one day so bring a rain jacket and warm clothing, sturdy footwear, water, sun block and a bite to eat (food and toilets are only at the start and end of each walk so it is recommended to bring a packed lunch)

Walks will go rain or shine and no need to book, just turn up on the day. However we would appreciate a text if you have a group of ten or more:

After the walk:
Ferries head back to Auckland regularly (usually every hour) so you will have time to explore the rest of the island after the walk - nearby Oneroa Village has shops, bars, cafes and restaurants or catch a bus to ocean beaches and vineyards.
