A smash hit when it was first performed on Broadway in the '30s, “The Women” is set inside the bubble of high society’s New York City wives, and the play depicts the gossip, catty wisecracks, and utter disillusionment that erupts among these socialite friends when their dearest and most envied learns of her husband’s infidelity at the hands of a social climbing shop girl.
