New Zealand international soprano, Anna Leese, returns home to Palmerston North for an Our People, Our Place, concert to celebrate the Rugby World Cup.
This concert by Anna Leese, accompanied by Guy Donaldson, and compeered by cartoonist, Tom Scott, and will also feature the rising young stars from the region. Anna's concert of popular arias and musical theatre songs will justify her reputation as NZ's next opera diva.
A highlight of the concert will be a Roger Buchanan arrangement of the RWC song World In Union made famous by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa which Anna will sing with the young stars. They will also present a montage of rugby songs including the most famous of them all, On The Ball.
Anna, a finalist in the BBC Singer of the World competition in June, is Jose Carreras's chosen soprano when he undertakes his world tours.
A unique feature will be Tom Scott's hosting and caricature of All Black legend and the only winning Rugby World Cup All Black coach, Sir Brian Lochore.
Anna Leese (pianist Guy Donaldson) with the Stars Of the Future (accompanist Roger Buchanan) performs one concert only, key sponsor B&M Electrical.
This will be the concert of the year for music enthusiasts on a date when no Rugby World Cup match is being played.
