An Embroidered Celebration is the title of a regional exhibition the Manawatu Embroiderers’ Guild is hosting. Our region covers six guilds from Taranaki, Whanganui and Manawatu.
Seventy three colourful and vibrant pieces will adorn the gallary walls under the categories Traditional, Open, Commercial Kits, Young Persons and an Extensions Challenge. These categories give the guild members a wide varity of choice to showcase their techniques and skills learnt through the wide education tools at disposal of the guilds through their governing body, the Association of New Zealand Embroidery Guilds.
The works on display will be judged by two independent Wellington based judges, you can decide for yourself if you agree with their choices by voting for your favorite work in our viewers choice section.
Our guest exhibitor Laura Hudson will showcase new work motivated by her recent experiences in Mexico. Laura has exhibited textile work nationally and internationally, she has received a number of awards for her work.
We hope you will take time to view our exhibition and be amazed at the collection of different work.
At the end of our exhibition, the works travel to the Percy Thompson Gallery, Stratford and will be on display from the 1st November to the 22nd November 2011.
