A celebration to welcome the return of the godwits to the Motueka Sandspit and Estuary after their non-stop flight from Alaska. Art and photographic competitions, displays, information about the godwit life cycle, speakers, and stands from Forest and Bird, DOC, Ornithological Society and local schools.

- Friday 23 Sept
10am - 4pm: Memorial Hall open to view displays
11am: Church bells ring to welcome arrival of godwits
11.15am: Official opening by Hon Kate Wilkinson, Karakia, music by Ukes of Hazzard
1.30pm: Lecture by David Melville, ornithologist, on godwit research
- Saturday 24 Sept
10am - 4pm: Memorial Hall open to view displays
11am: mask and dress up parade
2.00pm: presentation of prizes to competition winners
- Sunday 25 Sept
2pm: viewing of godwits from old wharf, with Ornithological Society members
