Villa Maria Festival in the Vineyard

As part of the 2011 REAL New Zealand Festival Villa Maria Estate will host the ‘Villa Maria Festival in the Vineyard - featuring Sola Rosa, Humble Souls and the Sweet Mix Kids. This will be a uniquely New Zealand experience showcasing NZ music and dance performances, arts, culture, food and wine!

Over the last decade Sola Rosa have released six critically acclaimed albums. From a humble, self-released one man project to a decidedly deadly live collective, Sola Rosa has grown from a national treasure into an act of truly international repute. Their music has a unique sound influenced by the best of hip hop, reggae, jazz, Latin, soul and funk.

The Sweet Mix Kids are New Zealand's most flamboyant and versatile DJ act. With 6 club residencies in Auckland City, and a top national radio show on More FM (Friday/Sat nights from 7pm) and George FM (Sundays at 2pm).

The Sweet Mix Kids will keep you entertained on the 25th of September as they DJ and MC the Villa Maria Festival in the Vineyard.

Humble Souls was formed in 2006 from a group of 14 year old students studying at Lynfield College. The band, almost from inception, came under the mentorship of Mike Chunn, formerly of Split Enz fame and now very much involved with promoting original songwriters throughout New Zealand secondary schools through the organisation PlayItStrange and its annual competition.

Few venues can boast a setting as unique as that of Villa Maria Estate’s picturesque vineyard park. The shape of the land itself provides a fantastic natural amphitheatre for concerts and events.

Located inside the crater of a 20,000 year old extinct volcano, The winery sits nestled among rows of vines and lies close to the magnificent Manukau Harbour. The vineyard is Just minutes from the Auckland International Airport and only 25 minutes from Auckland’s CBD.

Villa Maria Estate hosts some of New Zealand's top musicians during their Summer Concert Series and this is a special extra show for the 2011 REAL New Zealand Festival.
