Venture Southland presents a REAL NZ Festival event.
Maggie and Johnnie, recent immigrants from Scotland, meet in Wellington just before the outbreak of World War One. Their story, a narrative full of laughter and tears is brought to life on stage. Interspersed with Scottish folk songs, delivered by professional performers, the production weaves the story of Scottish immigration with the story of our nation. The play is based around traditional songs from a book bought in Invercargill in the 1890s.
The performers are Stuart Coats and Rowena Simpson with Douglas Mews on piano. The play is written and directed by Jacqueline Coats.
Tickets are available from the Invercargill i-SITE. Phone +64 3 2110895 or email angela@venturesouthland.co.nz
Door sales will be available at the venue one hour prior, subject to availability.
Part of A Taste of Southland' Festival.
